Parkway In Motion is proud to offer the Mike Kennedy Memorial Scholarship in honor of Roslindale’s own Michael Kennedy. Mike was an avid supporter of Parkway In Motion’s mission of supporting and connecting the youth of the Parkway area. He was a regular participant at our events and generously donated to help establish our scholarship funds. Mike was a Boston Firefighter that tragically lost his life battling a 9-alarm blaze in the Back Bay neighborhood of Boston in March of 2014. Mike grew up in Roslindale and never stopped giving back to his country or his community. After attending Johnson & Wales University, Mike decided to join the Marine Corps, where he served in the Iraq war. After finishing his service in the Marines, Mike returned to Boston and became a Firefighter. In addition to being a Firefighter, Mike was a certified CrossFit trainer. Despite his busy schedule, he always found time to volunteer and help others. Mike volunteered as a Big Brother for seven years, and also helped raise money for burn victims through the fire department's burn foundation and for wounded veterans through the Wounded Warrior Project.
